What is personalized video in HeyGen?

HeyGen enables users to create personalized video messages by seamlessly adding viewer-specific details like name or company. This helps deliver relevant messages at scale that drive conversions and deepen audience relationships.

Personalized video can be conceptualized into three distinct steps:

1. Create personalized video template
2. Generate personalized videos from template
3. Deliver personalized videos

Create personalized video template

The first step is to create a personalized video template. You can include different variables in the video template by using the {{variable_name}} notation.

Generate personalize videos from template

Once you have a video template, you can generate personalized videos from the template. You will need to provide actual values for each variables you defined in the personalized video template during the generation process.

There are several ways to generate personalized videos in bulk from the video template:

1. API
2. Zapier
3. Direct integration with CRMs (coming soon)

Since personalized videos are typically generated in bulk (i.e. generating a list of videos as opposed to a single video), the output from generating personalized videos resembles a spreadsheet / CSV format.

Deliver personalized videos

After generating personalized videos from the video template, the next step is to deliver them to your end recipients.

The most common way to deliver personalized videos is to send viewing links via email.

A basic option is to include HeyGen’s share page link for the personalized video in an email:

As a more advanced option, you can also embed a GIF preview that links to the personalized video in your email. However, this requires HTML compatibility with your CRM or email provider.

Once the recipient clicks the link or the GIF thumbnail in the email, they will be able to view the personalized video in a new tab. Example personalized video:
